About

IMG_3427

I’m a Reflexologist, Holistic Therapist and Yoga Teacher based in Barton Seagrave, Kettering in North Northamptonshire, specialising in Fertility and Women’s Health. I support women who are ready to feel calmer, understand & trust their bodies and take confident steps forward. So whether you’re on a fertility journey, navigating a stressful time of life or simply looking to press the pause button, you’ll find support through one of my treatments, events or retreat days.

My wellbeing journey

My own challenging wellbeing journey fuels my passion. Despite struggling with stress and anxiety from a young age, I managed to successfully mask my way through University and a 20 year corporate career. But it was a 5 year fertility battle in my mid-thirties that ultimately led to a turning point. During that time I was diagnosed and treated for thyroid cancer, had 3 unsuccessful rounds of IVF, an early miscarriage & a further baby loss before an eventual successful round of treatment in Greece. I then conceived naturally 6 months after my first son was born. My mind, body and soul had been through such a lot and I finally hit burnout at 40 with two little ones under two, when my body said ‘no more’.

Complementary therapies became my anchor during that turbulent time and I felt a strong call to turn my experiences into something positive to support others on their tricky paths. Reflexology was the natural choice for my initial training when I decided to walk away from my career, as was specialising in fertility and women’s health.

How my service has evolved

Since my Uni days as a Psychology graduate, I’ve always been fascinated with the brain and the mind-body connection. I’ve always been passionate about learning and personal development and when I became a therapist that passion translated into getting the best results for my clients. My belief is that true wellness comes when the mind, body and spirit are in balance, so with this in mind, I offer unique blends of therapies for a truly holistic approach to addressing wellbeing concerns:

  • Foot Reflexology (specialising in all aspects of Women’s Health, including pregnancy, fertility, IVF/Assisted conception & menstrual health. I’m also a Five Elements Reflexologist, with the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine guiding my work)
  • Facial Reflexology
  • Gentle Release Therapy (Advanced Fertility practitioner)
  • Facial Acupressure Therapy
  • Enerqi Facial Rejuvenation
  • Fertile Body Method (a mind-body approach combining hypnosis, solution-focussed therapy and cognitive behavioural approaches)
  • Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT ‘tapping’) Practitioner
  • 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher (Yoga Alliance), & have completed CPD studies in Restorative Yoga, Pelvic Floor Health & Post-Natal Yoga and Yin Yoga.

A little more about my offerings

Reflexology

Reflexology works on the principle that all the systems within the body (i.e. call the major organs, glands etc.) have corresponding ‘reflex points’ or areas elsewhere on the body (notably on the feet, hands, ears and face). As a Reflexologist, I’m guided by various maps and use a range of techniques with my hands (and sometimes using tools) to ‘work’ these areas of the body. This involves a combination of simple holds, energetic ‘links’ between two points and massage techniques all focussed on identifying imbalances, then working to release tension & congestion, balance, stimulate or sedate all aiming to encourage the body to return to balance. And how does a more balanced body feel? Calm, relaxed, ready for a good night’s sleep and all the positive effects on our wellbeing that flow thereafter.

Theories suggest that this process is facilitated via nerve endings sending messages up to the brain and back out to the body, as well as being due to energy shifts (much like an acupuncture treatment).

And how does this feel for you? Well, for me, it was the only treatment I found that could switch off my busy brain for a little while and enable me to deeply relax and simply ‘be’. Treatments are deeply nurturing and restorative for the body and mind. Clients often drift off to sleep or hit that ‘sweet spot’ in between sleep and rest – pure bliss. My clients consistently tell me they have the best night’s sleep. It really is a wonderful treatment!

Fertility Reflexology (‘Reproflexology’)

Being trained in this specialist branch of Reflexology enables me to use specific techniques and protocols aligned to specific stages of the menstrual cycle/each stage of an IVF/Assisted cycle to support the body/what the medication is trying to do. You can feel reassured you’re in safe hands if fertility is your focus. My personal experience and extensive training and knowledge in this field means I’m well equipped to hold your hand every step of the way.

Gentle Release Therapy

As the name suggests, Gentle Release Therapy is best described as a mixture of energy work (think Reiki) and acupuncture (without the needles), combined with various techniques that allow the body and mind to gently release anything that no longer serves them. Based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, it’s focus is to support the smooth flow of Qi (energy). When energy becomes stuck or stagnated, TCM principles state this is when imbalances, illness and disease arise. During a treatment or guided self-care session, we focus on gently connecting with key organs and systems in the body to support release. My clients find this an incredibly calming and soothing experience and often describe feeling lighter afterwards. Deep relaxation supports stress release, and puts the nervous system into a calm, parasympathetic state which can have positive effects on digestion, sleep, and anxiety levels to name but a few.

Facial Acupressure Therapy

This treatment incorporates acupressure point work on the face, alongside release of the muscular and fascia structures of the face, neck and shoulders. Similar to the foundations of Gentle Release Therapy, it’s also based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and involves the application of gentle pressure to various points which relate to different organ systems, supporting the flow of vital energy (Qi). The rejuvenating effects of hot towels and luxurious organic products to prepare the face together with nurturing massage techniques means this treatment is deeply supportive for the nervous system, guiding it to drop into a calm (parasympathetic) state which is an optimum state to support rest, sleep and healing.

My professional memberships

I’m a member of the Association of Reflexologists (AOR), the largest professional body for Reflexologists in the UK, which has stringent criteria for accepting members and a professional code of conduct. With so many short reflexology courses available, I feel it’s important to explain the difference in being treated by an AOR member – in order to qualify and become a member, I completed over 100 case studies, assignments, a practical exam and a final exam in Anatomy and Physiology, achieving an ITEC Level 3 Diploma as my foundation in this therapy. I’m also a proud member of the Association of Reproductive Reflexologists, having completed Case Studies as part of my Fertility Reflexology (‘Reproflexology’) studies.
